A redundancy led to a dream job for Claire Blake, who has got her career back on track thanks to the International School of Beauty Therapy.
Claire, 34, from Chester, has been studying beauty at the Crewe site since January and has completed courses in eyelash and eye treatments and facials. She has now completed her Level 3 Diploma in Nail Technology and will soon achieve her Level 3 in Nail Services with the beauty school.
She said: “I’ve always been interested in beauty, but after having children I never found the right time to study so when I was made redundant earlier this year I felt it was the perfect opportunity to take the plunge and gain my qualifications.”
Going from managing a team of merchandisers in the greeting card industry to studying a new skill was a little nerve-wracking for Claire at first, but she was quickly made to feel at ease by her experienced tutors.
“I was worried about the initial change from managing a team to studying a new skill but I had the best group of girls who supported each other throughout the course,” she said.
“The level of teaching I’ve received from Sam and Jodie has been outstanding; they’ve kept me motivated when I’ve doubted myself or struggled and guided me through each course, ensuring I qualify with confidence.”
Claire, who plans to own her own business, has some advice for anyone looking to change their career. She said: “To anyone thinking of signing up for a course – I’d say do it, it’s the best decision I ever made! Rather than being stuck in a boring job I now have so many opportunities to look forward to.”
